Testimonials

Mars Hill Manor cares for and loves each resident for who they are now, without the emotional conflict that family members experience by remembering them as they used to be. Family members can leave the care to us and return to being daughters, sons and spouses, knowing that their loved one is in a comforting and secure environment. The philosophy of care developed and embraced by the staff centers on caring for residents like family members and recognizing and appreciating the uniqueness of each individual.

We invite you to read what our residents’ families say about us:

“After going blind in 2020 I knew I could not live alone. I moved to MHM and it has been a blessing. The staff accommodates my needs by reading information, escorting me as needed, and monitoring my meds. The dining staff goes the extra mile by cutting up my foods and prompting me as to where things are on my plate at mealtimes. I am blooming here and being on a first-name basis makes me feel included and safe.”Sandy B., Resident
“Just this week I sat in on scrabble, enjoyed dominos and bingo, and beach volleyball. I find the strength training program to support my continued physical therapy. I have reignited my talent and love for music by playing piano for our weekly Vespers service. I couldn’t have done any of this at home with home health care.”Dianna B., Resident
Mars Hill Manor is a lovely place staffed with the kindest and most compassionate staff. My mom spent two years here, and I have so much gratitude for how much thought they put into creating a homey, comfortable environment with a nice mix of activities. They kept everyone safe during Covid and went out of their way to keep families in contact with their loved ones as much as possible. I’ll always be grateful for their care during such a difficult year.”Joanne C., family member
“Mars Hill Manor has been a wonderful place for our mother to spend her senior years. We were told when we were looking to bring her there that if she came they would love her and they have made her feel loved. She attends most activities and enjoys the lovely dining room for meals. We rest much easier each day and night knowing she is safe and happy.”Family member
“My mother has been in Mars Hill Manor for a week now. It has been wonderful. I know my mother will be taken care of physically, emotionally, and intellectually. There has been very little turnover in staff. The staff is committed to what they’re doing there. The prices are incredibly reasonable for what they provide. They have all types of activities from mind games to bingo. They have a library and beauty salon services. Because they’re connected with Mars Hill University, they have access to the whole library holdings. Residents can check out books from their library. They also live stream guest speakers and musical guests at the university to the residents. Worship services are available there onsite on Sundays. I saw them playing bingo in the hallway and all the residents were wearing masks. It was actually situated where a staff member is calling the numbers outside the room of a resident who is bedridden, so that she could also play. My mother was quarantined at first and they brought in puzzles, books, and things for her to do in her room. My mother is happy with the food because she has a choice for every meal. It’s less expensive than other places we looked at. They offer respite care, too. If somebody is taking care of a loved one at home and they need respite, meaning for them to go somewhere for a week or two, they also offer that service. They have furnished ready-to-go units. We moved my mother into one at first because we cannot let her stay where she had been living as it was no longer safe, and she was suffering from malnutrition.”Family member
“My Mother has been at Mars Hill for almost 2 years. The all around care here is very good. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice place for their loved one.”Wanda M., Family member
“I moved here April 2017. I thought I would bring my past professional experiences, but found out it was the best living experience that I had ever had to “learn” about myself. I am an only child and had a wide variety of experiences working with others. The support of the staff including the CNA’s is most exceptional as are the activities, food and day trips.”Delores H., Resident
“We toured several nursing homes and my husband was in a rehab unit after living in MHM for awhile. Food and staffing in all places was terrible. MHM is like a posh hotel by comparison. I join my husband for dinner or lunch on several occasions and the meals are wonderful. His comment after being in rehab for a month was I want to get back to my cheerful CNA’s and enjoy hugs and laughter and enjoy eating again!”Maureen W., Family member
“Mars Hill Manor has been a wonderful fit for my mother. She has made numerous
friends and loves the staff. My family no longer has to worry if she is taking her medications or if she is eating nutritious meals. I would highly recommend Mars Hill Manor to anyone.”Wanda R, Family member
